Technical crisis in the modern world
It is actual fact, that humanist professions are very profitable nowadays. Since school a lot of young people consider this profession to be very attractive. With such an viewpoint they are educated in their families, go to school, to a institute and after all they begin rearing their own children that way. Blind alley.
Why is it so? What do make people think that manual operations have lost their popularity?
There are several reasons.
first modern machinery has got such a high extent of growth that the majority of people is capable of running it without having specialized engineering knowledge. thereby there is no necessity for subsequent diffusion of technological skill. Humanits use starts dominating in all spheres of life.
Secondly it is an well known fact that we are in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They like to depict the world around and consume things, but not to make something by themselves. Of course this fact does not affect positively on spreading of technological education. People are simply not interested in it.
Thirdly the resource base has reached such a extent of desolation that we often have no place for practice after learning the theory.
at last a very significant thing is the policy of the state. What professions does it popularize as asked-for today? We can easily learn it by watching our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what professions do they promote today? It is easy to prove that they are full of humanist images. Mass-media present us easy life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a result?
Lack of trained workers in the engineering sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a jointer planer. This will cause a problem situation when we will be lacking very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally destroyed. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no experienced teachers able to educate adequate personnel working in non-humanist spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our society do in order to improve the condition? it is clear that there are several actions to be taken. First of all our state should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs perspectives. education system should apply efforts in order to promote technical professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to save technological specialities is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
